fall outfit - purple tights
I'm mixing patterns today. I don't do it often enough, but the patterns and colors aligned, and I'm very happy to be wearing them together in one outfit. Incidentally, this is another way to wear the Hello Dolly dress from Mata Traders. It layers so nicely - I also have plans to wear it with a white collared shirt underneath. I forgot to photograph the inside of this ikat crossbody bag from Malia Designs, but it has a pleasant pumpkin-spice colored lining. Call me a pumpkin-spice fool, but it makes me smile every time I open it!

I have my fingers crossed for good weather this weekend - despite the forecast. We have plans to go apple picking. Do you have plans this weekend, or are you going to play it by ear?

  1. Ugh this dress is killing me! It's such a gorgeous print and the purple tights and blue shirt really set it off well. This is really a fall outfit to me, which I love because it's not the traditional color palette that I associate with fall. Apple picking sounds like so much fun! I wish I was doing something like that this weekend, but hopefully I'll get to hit a couple thrift stores.

    1. Thank you, Sophie! I feel like since it's still late summer, I had some luck thrifting fall things early - so maybe you'll have luck too. Happy thrifting!

  3. Lovely outfit. I'm always too frightened to mix patterns, but you've got a real knack for it. It looks great and I love the gorgeous berry colour of your tights. The coloured lining of your bag is something that would make me smile every time I opened it too. I hope the weather stays clear for you so that you can go apple picking. And I must say too, the colours in that picture of the leave, fourth from the top, are just incredible.

  6. Holy crap this tapestry dress is gorgeous! I love the dotted shirt layered underneath it. These colors and prints look so good together and the pictures turned out super pretty, as usual.

  9. Hi Anna! I don't often comment, but I've been following your blog for a bit over two years (I love your style and photos). I've been on the hunt for a sturdy fair trade messenger bag, and am leaning towards Malia Designs (this bag and another in their chevron collection caught my eye in particular). Would you say this bag is sturdy enough to carry a laptop? If not, I might opt for a bag in their cement collection (I figure if the bag could carry cement, it should be able to carry a laptop occasionally). Thanks for your help!!

    1. Hi Quiche Lauren!

I actually used a messenger bag from Malia as my primary laptop tote. It held my 13.5" Toshiba nicely. It's not padded like a case you might buy specifically *for* laptops, but I thought it was definitely sturdy enough. This bag is too small for my laptop, but it's made of the same sturdy stuff and I have carried my precious camera in it. I hope this helps, and thanks for all your support!

  10. I'm so glad someone linked me to your blog, because your style and photos are really lovely. This is a great outfit idea - I love a pinafore dress with a button down underneath. It's such a classic, school girl kind of look, but the mix of prints makes it looks modern and grown up.
