This time of year - autumn to winter - makes a lot of us a little melancholy, with colder days and longer nights. I try to enjoy the cozy aspects of the season - wearing wool hats, enjoying hot tea, and lighting lots of candles when the sun sets so early. I made a crazy candle from the ends of five different scented candles. Have you ever done that?

In early fall I bought a pot of red mums - a plant with lots of buds on it. They've only now starting really blooming. I can't quite figure it out. Last year our mums were beautiful for one week it late August and then they were done. Some people have green thumbs, some brown thumbs, but I have a confused thumb. Anyway, I'm glad to see some winter blooms.

  1. That melancholy mixed with cozy feeling feels good sometimes and these are so lovely. The dark tones mixed with light drama make winter one of my favorite color palettes.

  2. Oh, you definitely capture the season with these photos- both individually but even more so as a collection of photographs.
