I'm channeling Wirt in this winter outfit. I first saw the Cartoon Network series Over the Garden Wall in November, and fell completely in love with it. I've watched it several times since. In addition to watching it with my eyes glued to the screen, absorbing every moment and message, it's also one of those things that's nice and comforting to have playing during the day. It's creepy, beautiful, and creative - definitely worth seeing. Anyway, Wirt is a young boy (voiced by Elijah Wood) who wears a gnomish outfit with a red hat and a navy cape with six buttons.

This is a mostly second-hand outfit, except the blue dress, which came from Ruche over a year ago. Here's a confession: I wear this beanie almost every day at home before I get dressed, and sometimes after. It's a great head-warmer and hair-hider. It's soft, even compared to other beanies I've worn - like pajamas for your head. By the way, I think this is a regional thing but growing up we called these hats "toboggans" (like the sled). "Beanies" were something completely different: skull-caps, often with cartoonish propellers on top.

  1. Beanies were also those things with propellors to us too.

I love your hat though- it is so cheerful!

  2. I love Over the Garden Wall! I watched it randomly when I was sick this fall, and liked it so much I made my husband watch it. He wasn't really paying attention at first because respectably a lot of kids shows are mindless and random. But by the end he liked it, and showed it to his friend, paying much more attention to the show the second time. I kind of like how it plays as a long movie with little chapters.
