Recently, my parents have been cleaning the clutter out of their lives, which has inspired me to do the same. I've had the words of Faye's recent post on Oh! Darling going through my head (especially the part about saving old sketches/sketchbooks. I'm really bad about that)! Although the focus has been getting rid of stuff, I did acquire my great-grandmother's "Top Notch" Brass King washboard. (The slogan printed on the other side says "The board will do the work," haha). It survived decades of laundry, and a had a brief career as a prop in Annie Get Your Gun in more recent years.
I plan to hang it somewhere in the kitchen. I never met my great-grandmother, but I feel thankful for her life (and lifetime of hard work) whenever I see this washboard.
Wow, that Sun! Perfect photos!
ReplyDeletePretty photos.
ReplyDeleteMy parents have been doing the same. And then having a garage sale to end all garage sale.
Oh that moon photo is so beautiful! It was so lovely this month, very big and close to the Earth (or so it seemed at least!). That washboard is so beautiful, I love old things like that, and even more special that it's part of your family's history. I'm glad the decluttering is going well! :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to purge my life of many items since moving back home. There's just no room and it's overwhelming! Good luck with cleaning your clutter!
ReplyDeleteAlso these pictures are gorgeous, as usual!
