We had the greatest time weekend before last at our favorite mountain lake. So many things were blooming - pink rhododendron, pale mountain laurel, and (to our delight) loads of water lilies. Photography has been a great excuse to get to know these blossoms up-close. It's silly, but sometimes I feel like I'm invading their privacy.
Here's a photo of the water lilies on the same lake in 1947. You can also spot lily pads in the background of this 1950s photo.

Oh my goodness, so so beautiful. I know what you mean about invading their privacy, sometimes, it feels more respectful to just watch and study them instead. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for being the very first commenter on this blog, Clara! And yes! I'm glad you know what I mean. Although there's so much detail one misses out on from five feet away. :-)
DeleteI like your new blog! Very you and very pretty. These photos are gorgeous. I also liked the post of paintings you shared here too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kristian! That means a lot to me.
DeleteI'm glad you liked the last post. I'm so in love with those 17th century still lifes that I almost want to do another post of them. :-)
Yay, so happy to find you again! This is a beautiful online space. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your new blog :) Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteLoving the new blog so far! As always, these are such beautiful pictures. I can imagine how peaceful it must have been finding those lovely lilies. Thanks for sharing imagines of the lake from all those years ago.

I'm loving the new blog! And I love your nature photography too. Beautiful stuff!
ReplyDeleteahhh so dreamy! I wanted so badly to roadtrip down south, then across on our way from new york to utah, but it just wasn't in the cards:(
ReplyDeleteOh, that's a shame! But I understand why. One of the most tedious road trips I ever went on was across the tops of Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. So long!
