I think these works by John James Audubon are fascinating. There's something very cozy about them - probably because images like these always remind me of my grandmother. She loved paintings and illustrations of birds, and had Sallie Middleton prints around her house. Also, I can picture prints of these works hanging in the library of my dreams - a library with three levels, a fireplace and over-stuffed chairs.
I hope to be blogging more soon, and I hope you all have had a wonderful January.

I think they are very pretty too.
ReplyDeleteWe have a few of these illustrations in an old nature book. I've been working on carefully removing them from their torn up bindings and adding them to an album.

ReplyDeletei am such a fan of his work. there's this big old, dusty book tucked away at work (library) that i sometimes pull out when things are slow. so lovely to just sit and stare.
