The bright red flower is a fire pink, sometime known as scarlet catchfly. I found a lot of it growing by the trail yesterday. There were also yellow evening primroses and unripe black berries growing wild. We kept looking to the sky on our hike, because the rolling clouds threatened rain. There were thunderstorms in the weather report for 7:30 pm, and we were out at 4:00 and 5:00 pm. June weather can change so quickly, however. But the rolling clouds passed on.
