Steven and I took a trip to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC last weekend. We had been given some free passes by a family member, so we toured the house and then visited the conservatory, which was the highlight of our weekend. The conservatory and gardens were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed Central Park in New York City. There was an orchid room and rooms for cacti and succulents. It was a beautiful sight after such a long winter. I wouldn't mind moving in and living there with the orchids and palms. The surrounding gardens were still pretty brown, but purple crocuses and some daffodils were already blooming. If we didn't have spring fever before visiting, we definitely do now.

  1. What a elegantly gorgeous blooms (and building that they're housed in). Orchids are a perpetual favourite of mine and I all but gasped upon seeing these exquisite examples. Thank you for taking us along on your lovely outing.

    Many hugs,
    ♥ Jessica

  3. That is just gorgeous! Actually, my best friend lives in Asheville, and I'm going to be visiting in April - I'll have to make a point to visit the conservatory.
