After some saving, we purchased the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G on Labor Day. It instantly became my favorite lens. It's amazing for low-lighting situations. I've really enjoyed shooting indoors - which is good, considering all the rain that's keeping us inside. It's an ideal lens for full-body portraits too - especially if you like minimal distortion and nice, blurry backgrounds. The last three posts were shot with this lens exclusively, and I especially like how the last one turned out. Of course, I can't get as close as I could when using the AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED, which came with our camera. I haven't missed that much, though.

Do you have a favorite lens? Or do you enjoy shooting with a simpler point-and-shoot camera? (I did for years)! My mom takes amazing photos on her phone - I don't know how she does it!

  1. My dad takes the most amazing photos with his i-Phone too. Actually, I think you'd really like his work, though the style is very different from your own (https://instagram.com/craig.satterlee/). I used to enjoy shooting with lens but mostly let The Boy do the shooting now- so lazy of me!

These photos are great- those feet sure look cozy!

  2. Lovely photography! Your fall is looking very cozy indeed. At some point I will be investing in a DSLR, but for right now I've got a point and shoot that I can usually get some pretty good shots out of.

  3. I love this photo set. Lovely, warm, cozy - such wistful feelings of autumn! I use the same lens and I love it too. It's a beautiful lens, so sharp and fast. I use it exclusively now. It's suffered a lot of abuse from me. I've dropped my camera numerous times but it still functions fine (in my mind, anyway!).

  4. That last shot is a beaut! I really wish I could say I had a nice snazzy camera but right now I just use my phone or old point and shoot. One day I want to get a Canon, though.

  6. Autumn photos, best photos. Your lens captured the pure essence and atmosphere of my favourite season. That last pumpkin pic is really something - love it!
