Still Life Tea and Coffee

1. Pascal's Pensees, Henri Matisse, 1924
2. Still Life With A Coffee Pot, Camille Pissarro, 1900
3. Still Life With Red Tea Kettle, Man Ray, 1913
4. The Tea Set, Claude Monet, 1872
5. Fruit And Coffee-Pot, Henri Matisse, 1898

I like to photograph cups of tea. There's something calming and pleasant about a picture of a quiet personal ritual. I find these these paintings with tea or coffee to be very inviting. With no human subjects, these cups and trays seem to be set out just for the viewer.

  2. I love tea still life portraits too. A cup of tea is such a sweet pause in the day, so it is well worth taking a picture of too.

  3. So very lovely. I agree, still life images sans people can be all the more serene and calming, especially when they're of a beverage that tends to have these properties itself.
